Bumblebee was born during the summer of 2020, in the time of Coronavirus.
We are a small business, born out of a love of books and the belief that creativity is a super power that really can make us all happier!
Currently, we do everything from our sitting room in Teddington – the neighbours have been very understanding about all the parcels arriving! Everything from choosing the books, to writing the creative prompts, and gift wrapping the parcels is done by founder Imogen, with a little help from Daisy the cat – and wonderful design and website creation by Charlotte at CRJ Design.
Imogen started out as a theatre director, mainly making productions for young audiences, as well as teaching creative workshops to all ages from primary schools to post grads.
This year, through a series of peculiar and exciting events she left the world of theatre (for now?!) and created something new out of her first love – books.
When not Bumblebee-ing Imogen also works in Learning Support at a local school, working with a fantastic teenager – a truly lovely job!
A Sunday roast, a good game of Scrabble, watching the world go by from the top deck of the bus, long walks, finding new cafes, excellent knitwear, and broccoli!

Daisy is obviously the real brains behind Bumblebee! A rescue cat who spent the first 4 years she lived with Imogen staying indoors – she was brave enough to discover the great outdoors during lockdown, and is now a changed cat!
Being tickled under the chin, catching live toads, sitting amongst the bluebells, and perching atop Imogen’s head.

Charlotte has been a graphic and web designer since 2014, and helped bring Bumblebee to life in 2020 by creating the iconic bee logo, and by building our website.
She also designs the activity cards and creative prompts sent out with each book, and all Bumblebee branding, as well as providing ongoing technical support.
Hot chocolates, the ocean air, a leisurely bike ride, walks with her rescue dog, homemade lasagne, and cold water swimming.
